କଥାକଳି ହେଉଛି ଉଚ୍ଚ ତାଳଯୁକ୍ତ ଲୋକକଳା । ଏହି ନୃତ୍ୟଶିଳ୍ପୀମାନେ ହଳେ ଛୋଟିଆ ବାଡି ଧରି ଗୋଲାକାରରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ନୀଲ ବିଲାକୁ ଚାରିପଟେ ଗୀତ ଗାଇ ଗାଇ ଏବଂ ପରସ୍ପରର ବାଡିକୁ ଠୁକ୍ ଠୁକ୍ କରି ନାଚିଥାନ୍ତି । ଯଦିଓ ନୃତ୍ୟଶିଳ୍ପୀମାନେ ପରସ୍ପର ଠାରୁ ବିଭିନ୍ନଶୈଳୀରେ ବିଛିନ୍ନ ହୋଇଥାନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ଗୋଟିଏ ହେଲେ ତାଳ କେବେ ବି ଭାଂଗି ନଥାନ୍ତି । କୋଲକାଳି ହେଉଛି ମାଲବାରର ମୁସଲମାନ ପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସବୁଠାରୁ ଲୋକପ୍ରିୟ ।
