Valiyaparamba Backwaters
About 30 kms away from Bekal lay the Valiyaparmba Backwaters which is one of the most scenic backwaters in Kerala. It includes kunnuveedu beach and padanna beach. There are about 90 varieties of bird species identified from this place. Given life by four major rivers, the Valiyaparamba Backwaters pull a fairly large number of tourists every year. The backwater is also dotted with numerous islands. It also offers enticing boat cruises. Valiyaparamba hinterland is separated from mainland and is one of the important fishing centres of Kerala.
