The annual festival of St. Andrew's Church, Arthunkal, Alappuzha, is the much revered Arthunkal Perunnal. It is believed that St. Andrew's Basilica, Arthunkal, was originally built by the Portuguese missionaries in the 16th century. It was reconstructed with stone in 1597.
This ancient pilgrim-cum-tourist destination celebrates the feast of St. Sebastian every year in January. The festivities last for ten days. During the festival, the statue of St. Sebastian is carried in the procession to the seashore and back.
