SM Street or Sweet Meat Street (Mittayitheruvu) is a 500-year-old commercial hub situated in the heart of Kozhikode city. The history of Mittayitheruvu dates back to the Zamorin era when the Gujarati sweet makers settled for shops in the city. Even before the Gujarati community's arrival, the Zoroastrians or Parsis had come to Kozhikode and started different businesses.
