Chaliyar River Paddle 2023

Chaliyar River Paddle 2023

Kerala Tourism, in association with Jellyfish Watersports Pvt. Ltd., is organising the 9th edition of Chaliyar River Paddle from the 6th to the 8th of October. The first 'source to the sea' paddling event in the country will have experienced kayakers, river guidesĀ and lifeguards on water and land. The event is also open to absolute beginners. International safety standards will be adhered to, with the involvement of Kerala Fire and Rescue, Kerala Police, and Port and Coast Guard officials as necessary. The paddle which will last for three days will cover 68 kilometers - from Nilambur in the foothills of Western Ghats in Malappuram until Beypore in Kozhikode.

The organisers of the event also aim to collect at least 1000 kg of floating garbage from the river and find recycling solutions for these. This is done as part of their river clean-up initiatives.
