The devotion for St. Sebastian

St. Sebastian is worshipped as the Saint who eliminates the evil spirits that spread communicable diseases such as small-pox. The arrow used for terminating evil spirits is taken out in the procession, which is part of the festival on his Feast day.

Candles, images of the human body in silver, and oil, are the main offerings in the churches of St. Sebastian. Various cultural programmes like Margam Kali, Parichamuttu Kali, Villadichan Pattu and Chavittu Nadakam are also conducted as part of the festivals. Pandimelam and fireworks also form part of the celebrations.
