The festival of joy and colours

Onam, the festival of colours and flavours is celebrated across the world with enthusiasm and joy. Our pookalam on thiruvonam day was a fusion between Kathakali, the popular dance-drama form of Kerala and Vallamkali, the boat race of snake boats. Onam brings me memories of stepping out every mornings and bring colourful flowers from the neighbourhood to create the pookkalam, and the joy that it brings is something unique on its own.
