Pookkalam done in New Zealand 2023 on 23/8/23

In New Zealand, it's end of winter. This is not an ideal weather to get flowers as unpredictable weather mostly raining. Still, we managed to go around the streets and ask around owners to pick flowers for this. We had to explain about our culture and importance of pookkalam for ONAM etc to them. This gathering of flowers from garden is truly one part I enjoyed in my childhood. I believe, if I was in Kerala, I might end up buying flowers from market!! But truly in newzealand, I was recollecting my memories of looking for ideal coloured flowers around the streets... Really enjoyed.... One thing I am definitely passing on to my kids as a part our culture....Happy Onam...
