Kizhunna Beach, located in Edakkad panchayath, 11 kilometres off from the bustling town of Kannur, is an ideal place for reflection and relaxation.Â
This lesser-known beach, with its golden sands, swaying coconut palms, and tranquil ambiance, allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty and peaceful ambiance of this coastal haven.
A secluded place
Nestled in a quaint fishing hamlet between two striking crimson-coloured cliffs, Kizhunna beach is a secluded paradise known for its unspoiled beauty and tranquil surroundings.Â
Unlike the more popular beaches, Kizhunna remains largely untouched by commercialization, offering visitors a chance to fully immerse themselves in its natural splendour. Fishing
The stunning rock formations on Kizhunna beach are a favourite spot for angling enthusiasts. The abundant marine life around these rocks attracts anglers, making it a perfect location for a relaxing day of fishing amidst the beautiful coastal scenery. These stretches of coastline are also renowned for trawling, with fishermen frequently casting their nets into the sea.
Kizhunna beach, with its tranquil charm, is also close to several other attractions that make for delightful side trips. Ezhara beach, Payyambalam beach, Muzhuppilangad beach are nearby. Arakkal museum, Kannur Fort and Dharmadom Island are the other tourist destinations of interest. The Vismaya Park and Parassinikadavu Snake Park is also in the vicinity.
Kizhunna beach can be easily reached from Kannur railway station and Kannur International Airport. Frequent buses are available from all the important towns of Kerala to Kannur.
Except the monsoon season - from June to August- the beach can be visited anytime. October to May is the best time to enjoy the beauty of the beach.
