Founded in 1838 C.E. in Palayam, the CSI Mateer Memorial Church is one of the oldest congregations in South India built in a simple Hallenkirche (Hall Church) style. Popularly known as LMS Church, the building is in granite, with a square bell tower with a vestibule beneath and a roof supported by Gothic arches.
