The Siruvani Dam and reservoir is a major picnic spot located in the Kalladikodan hill ranges of Palakkad district. The Siruvani Reservoir was built by the Kerala Government with the purpose of meeting the drinking water requirements of the city of Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu).
At the Siruvani Dam, one is greeted by two gateways on either side of the road across the dam and are typical of the Kerala and Tamil architectural styles. The climate, the view and the surrounding greenery add to the charm of the place. One also gets wonderful visuals of Coimbatore from the Tamil Nadu outpost. The water is refreshing and the surrounding forest area boasts of wonderful trekking trails. Pattiyar Bungalow, one of the most beautiful Inspection Bungalows of the Kerala Forest Department, is situated on the banks of this reservoir.
