Ummichipoyil and Varikulam, Kasaragod

Ummichipoyil, located on laterite hill top of Karinthalam village of Hosdurg Taluk, is the rock-cut caves called Muniyaras dating back to 2,000 years. From here the archaeological department has excavated potteries that belong to the Megalithic Age.   

At Varikulam, around 10 km from Kolathur Village, overlooking the Chandragiri River you will find some architectural forms like kudakallu or Umbrella Stones.  

Ummachipoyil and Varikulam spots are located 23 km from Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district of Kerala.
