The Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple, situated on the banks of the Valapattanam River, is a very interesting religious destination. It is famous for how dogs are considered sacred here and the fact that fish and toddy are the customary offerings to the deity, Lord Muthappan, here and they are distributed to the devotees as well.
One of the most ancient temples of the North Malabar region of Kerala is located in Dharmadam village of Thalassery. The Andalur Kavu temple is believed to have been constructed by the fifth avatar of Lord Vishnu, Sage Parasurama. The annual festival of the temple which is usually held in February is an event that draws hundreds of devotees from far and near.
