Bus Safari to Lion Safari Park

When you think of Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, it could be its lions that first come up to your mind. You will be taking to the island in a boat and from there drive inside the sanctuary in a forest department vehicle, you could see the big cats lazing on the shadows of a tree, carefree, watching you with half-opened eyes of sheer unconcern.  Next a boat ride to the Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. The boat will leave you to the island where the crocodiles are kept. A small trekking through the forest will take you to the deer park. Back to the boat pointing.

An exclusive package for boating in the waters of Neyyar. This boat safari package is upto Kombai and a maximum of eight persons in one trip.

Meenmutty Trekking

A 6 km trek to Meenmutty falls from Neyyar is perhaps the best trekking trail in the Sanctuary. Once the boat leaves you off at Kombai, where you can see life moving at a slow place in a tribal village, you begin your long trek to the falls. You see Athirumala, which is the base camp for the Agastyakoodam pilgrimage on the way. After the long walk through the dense forests, you will be greeted by the voice of a cascade even from a distance – the Meenmutty falls.  Another two kilometers of walk, you’d reach the Kombaikani waterfalls. 

Close by is a forest camp house, where trekkers can take rest and have food. Forest guides and cook will accompany you on this trek, which requires the permission of the forest department.  Minimum five persons are needed to start this package.

Utharam Kayam Top Hut

A trekking and stay over programme of Neyyar is Utharam Kayam Top Hut. Located inside dense forest teeming with vegetation, located on the lap of the Agasthya Hills, amidst the forests of Neyyar, it is an ideal package for adventure seeks. Accommodation in a tree house or Erumadam is the highlight. Utharam Kayam can be accessed by taking a 13 km boating from the Neyyar Reservoir to Kombai. After alighting at Kombai and trekking for around 2 kilometres through the murky forest, you reach Utharam Kayam. At a time, maximum of four persons can avail this package.
