Kerala Literature Festival
The Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) is a significant annual literary event held at Kozhikode Beach, organized by the DC Kizhakemuri Foundation and co-promoted by DC Books. The festival gathers a diverse group of writers, artists, actors, celebrities, thinkers, and activists from various backgrounds, fostering connections between readers and writers. In its sixth edition, KLF featured over 400 speakers from more than 12 countries, engaging in around 200 sessions across five venues in Kozhikode city.
Kozhikode has been listed by UNESCO as a City of Literature, acknowledging its significant contributions to the literary world. This prestigious recognition highlights the city's vibrant literary culture, which is celebrated annually through its renowned literature festival, attracting authors, poets, and literary enthusiasts from around the globe. Â
KLF showcases Kerala's rich cultural heritage and traditions, offering a platform for meaningful discussions on literature, art, cinema, culture, dance, music, environment, science, and technology. The event includes a variety of cultural and musical performances, and exclusive sessions through the Friends of KLF community. The festival has grown significantly since its inception in 2016, now standing as Asia's largest literature festival with over half a million footfall.
Some of the notable speakers scheduled at the festival include popular writer Jeffrey Archer, Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Ada Yonath, Piyush Pande, Francesc Miralles, Geethanjali Shree, Wendy Doniger, Ramachandra Guha, Palanivel Thiagarajan, Sanjeev Sanyal, Anand Neelakantan, Shashi Tharoor, Manu S. Pillai, Prakash Raj, and Shobhaa De. These personalities bring diverse perspectives and insights, enriching the festival's discussions and debates.
In addition to the literary discussions, KLF features a cultural fest with performances by eminent artists and Cinema on the Beach, offering a holistic cultural experience.
