Vasantholsavam, a visual bonanza, is being organised at Kanakakkunnu Palace under the auspices of Kerala Tourism every year. Originally launched in December 2019, the event strives to appeal to both tourists and residents alike. Flower shows, exhibition cum sale of agricultural products, an exhibition of rare herbs and medicinal plants, food festivals, direct experiences of tribal lifestyle, art forms etc., will be organised as part of the festival. There will also be cultural programmes, a pet park and a trade fair.

This year, 'Vasantholsavam - New Year Illumination 2023' themed, 'Illuminating Joy, Spreading Harmony’ was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas on December 24, 2023. The prime public spaces in the city will be decorated with lighting and structural installations.

The Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds, set to be a nightlife spot, will showcase unique, theme-centric installations at the main gateway and throughout the extensive terrain. The festive allure will be amplified with captivating tree-wrapped lights and mesmerizing special effect lighting fixtures, setting an enchanting atmosphere across the premise.

A huge Santa made of flowers is yet another attraction of the 'Vasantholsavam'. Exotic flowers, sourced beyond the state will grace the curated flower show. Replicas of illuminated European houses and gardens will be a major attraction at this year's show.  Other attractions include a butterfly swing, walkway arches, reindeer, a tunnel with lights, a shooting star, light boards, a gift box and hot air balloons.

Entry ticket for ‘Vasantholsavam’ is Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children. Prime urban locations like Kozhikode and Kochi, renowned for their vibrant outdoor festivities and bustling holiday shopping scenes, will be adorned with tasteful illumination. Sparkling installations will further mesmerize both local holiday-goers and tourists discovering the state.
