What can we expect in the wildlife sanctuaries like Periyar and Silent Valley in Kerala?

Situated in the Idukki district of Kerala, Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in India. It is famous for its large population of Asiatic elephants and is also home to tigers, leopards, sambar deer, gaur and many other species. The park offers a variety of activities for visitors, including boating on Periyar Lake, trekking through the forest, and visiting spice plantations. 

The world-renowned Silent Valley National Park is in Palakkad district of Kerala. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is known for its pristine evergreen forests, which are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including lion-tailed macaques, Nilgiri langurs and Malabar grey hornbills. The park is a great place for birdwatching and trekking.
