In Kerala, the districts of Alappuzha and Kollam are noted for coir production. One may visit places suggested below to see various aspects of coir-making in Kerala. 

Alappuzha: Renowned as the 'Venice of the East,' Alappuzha also known as Alleppey is a coastal town famous for its backwaters and beaches. It is the major centre for coir production in Kerala. One can visit coir villages in and around Alappuzha, like the Alappuzha beach and Kuttanad to witness the traditional process of coir-making.

Chendamangalam: Located about 27 km north of Alappuzha, Chendamangalam is a village famous for its coir production. Here, you can see skilled artisans using traditional techniques to separate fibres, spin them into yarn and weave beautiful coir products.

Apart from these places, you can also visit government-run coir processing units to see large-scale coir production.
