Overview

Kelakam is a fast growing hill town in the Kannur district of Kerala. It is serene; the people are very friendly and peace loving. The town has started to grow due to the migration of people from the south side of Kerala. It is a centre of hill produce, textile and jewelry shops.

Kelakam is located in North Kerala, of the Kannur district. It is 7km from the famous Kottiyoor temple. The beautiful Bavali river flows through Kelakam. People from all the surrounding villages come here to shop. Nearby cities are Kacherikadavu and Virajpet. Kelakam is also famous for its arrecknut plantations.

JK Residency is a 4 star bar attached hotel located near Kelakam on Kottiyoor-Thalassery hill highway. JK is the only star hotel in and around Kottiyoor temple hence it makes the perfect choice of stay for people visiting Kottiyoor temple or travelling to Wayanad. Cost is slightly on the higher side but is totally worth.

I stayed at JK residency for few days and have to say it was a great experience. The rooms are spacious, neat and the staff are very friendly. It is has a bar attached adding to the positive experience. It is very convenient location to go to Wayanad and other tourist locations. The food is top notch as well.

Great place that organises fantastic nature trails and adventure tours. Best place to stay that is nearest to Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary
