Bounded by the river on all sides, Achamthuruthi Island is a small island between Kottapuram and Cheruvathur in Kasaragod district. According to villagers, the extension of Thuruthi village in Cheruvathur gave Achamthuruthi its name. The sights of country boats engaged in fishing activities and Kettuvallams (Houseboats) gliding through river Karyankode (Tejaswini) are mesmerising experiences for every visitor here.
