Rainbow recreational Zone or Fort wall project is to be set up at the adjoining land to Bekal fort and Thanal Vishrama Kendram. The aim of the project would be to improve the potential of the area surrounding the Bekal fort and provide tourists more activities to engage them with. The proposed land is bordered by the Bekal fort wall in the south, Arabian Sea (beach) to its west, Thannal Vishrama Kendram (BRDC property) to its north and the fort wall again that extends to the road on its east end.
The project envisions to showcase Bekal fort with a blend of entertainment and the need for conservation and reimagining its colourful heritage. The theme concentrates on the colours in a rainbow. The fort wall will be lit up in different colours on each day of the week. The facilities would include landscaping, walkway, open air theatre, snack bar, lighting arrangements, musical fountain & laser show, sculpture garden/rock garden, seating facilities and a small art gallery. The estimated cost for the completion of this recreational zone would be around Rs. 2.25 crore. BRDC is proposing to invite Expression of Interest (EOI) for this project.
