The Central Civil Aviation ministry has approved an airstrip proposal at Periye under the UDAN scheme. A recreational township is proposed near the airstrip in 7.85 acres of Government land that has a minimum number of dwellings nearby. The main beneficiaries would be airstrip passengers and the surrounding residents. The objective is to provide an entertainment destination for families residing in the district to spend their holidays and nightlife and to improve the tourism sector in the district.

Facilities proposed in township would include studio apartments for resting, shopping outlets, restaurant, entertainment and gaming facilities. An approximate cost of Rs. 6 crore is required for site development, equipment, structures, landscaping and others.
