Coconut Creek, Kumarakom

Kumarakom, a popular tourist destination in the district of Kottayam in Kerala is renowned for its charismatic backwaters. Set in the backdrop of the pristine Vembanad Lake, known for the breathtaking boat races, Kumarakom pulls a large number of tourists every year. The banks of the Vembanad Lake are lined with several luxury hotels, resorts and budget hotels.

The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, an ornithologist's paradise and yet another attraction of Kumarakom, is located on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. Situated next to this bird sanctuary is the Coconut Creek, a "Bed and Breakfast" homestay. A winner of the Kerala State tourism award, Coconut Creek is the only one of its kind in the Diamond category for homestays in Kerala - the highest rating given by Department of Tourism. It is one of the homestays in Kumarakom. Coconut Creek offers the best in services and that too at attractive rates. This really is a great bliss for the budget travellers.

A Kerala heritage home spread across four acres of land, the Coconut Creek homestay is an exotic haven of tranquility. This heritage home has been skillfully converted into a modern Bed and Breakfast homestay. Though the ambience is typically Keralite the facilities provided are worthy enough to compete with any of the luxury hotels nearby.

The three independent A/c bedrooms, exotic bathrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, a private sitout and an enticing view at the creek create a magical mood and delightful experience. At Coconut Creek you are given all the quintessential tastes and aromas of traditional Kerala. An array of ethnic delicacies like Kerala sadya (traditional Kerala feast), Malabar fish curry, karimeen pollichathu (baked pearl fish), konchu (prawns) curry, and Kuttanad duck curry with appam (hoppers) provide a unique experience.

In addition to the regular services Coconut Creek also offers traditional houseboat tours in Kumarakom and to Alleppey (Alappuzha), car rentals (rent-a-car) and hotel reservations. Complete Kerala holiday packages are also available on request. Special programmes like a visit to the bird sanctuary, the farms, nearby ancient churches, special village safari, fishing in the lake, and Ayurvedic treatments are arranged on request. At Coconut Creek you will truly discover a new and fresh Kerala with all the traditional embellishments.
