Monsoon

When the hubbubs of festivities settle down in Kerala by the month of June starts the carnival of Nature in which she flaunts her million moods at their fullest. After the long and sweaty summer days the monsoon torrent is a welcome change in Kerala. The exhilarating whiff of dry earth loosing its summer fever, the exciting drumming of water droplets on roofs and the tiny paper boats sailing reluctantly in shallow water pools; all make monsoon the most pleasurable season in Kerala.

As the atmosphere gets filled with raindrops and rainbows, none would think of missing it in the closed indoors of their homes. The best fun time offered by nature, monsoon brings you everything fresh and new. Fresh leaves, washed streets, tender buds all greet you with their untainted smiles, making you feel the countless kisses of heavens, compelling you to wade through knee-deep waters, pushing you further to your innocent childhood days of paper boats and sloshing around in the gurgling streams.

In Kerala, monsoon is also the season of rejuvenation. People take special diets and special therapies, prescribed by Ayurveda, to revitalize their minds and bodies. According to Ayurveda, monsoon is an ideal season to take treatments for various diseases. The rising health consciousness among the people has brought Karkidaka Chikitsa (monsoon therapies) back into vogue. 'Oushadha Kanji or Karkidaka Kanji is a medicinal rice gruel taken as a traditional item of Kerala during the rainy days. It is also prescribed as a seasonal diet for old people as it is considered good for rheumatic disorders, the occurrence of which is on the rise in the monsoon season.

Kerala Tourism brings you special packages that will help you enjoy the limitless joys of monsoon at its best. Dream Season a special tourism package from 1 April 2012 to 30 September 2012 gets you some exciting tour packages like Backwater Houseboat Cruises, Hill Station Holidays, Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Packages, Monsoon Tours and many more from Kerala's hotels, resorts and tour operators at never-before prices.

When the heavens romance Nature with heavy droplets the rhapsody that ensues will surely be beyond the limits of ecstasy.
