Jean Paul Assandri
"For me it is the diversity that makes Kerala unique," says Jean Paul Assandri General Secretary of Department Union Club in France. "Diversity is the best word to describe God's Own Country. I have been to Kerala more than five times. In each of these visits, I get to see new things in this State. I get to acquaint with different cultures, traditions and festivals of Kerala. In fact, there are countless of things to see in Kerala. Also there are numerous activities to take part in", observes Mr. Assandri.
"Culturally, Kerala is very much different from the rest of India. People are comparatively more educated, they are friendly and welcoming. The land is beautiful, all that mountains, wildlife, beaches, backwaters… all my customers love Kerala. You don't need to travel extensively in Kerala. Within a small area itself you can have diverse experiences. That is what makes Kerala a favourite among the tourists. And all these destinations are well connected by roads," says Mr. Assandri.
"The houseboats of Kerala are truly spectacular. It is such an experience that you won't get anywhere else in the world. The boat cruise from Kottayam to Alappuzha and Kollam to Alappuzha gave me some unforgettable experiences. The life on the shores of the backwaters is very different, we can see how these water bodies influence and shape the lives of the people around. These pictures will never fade in my memory," says Mr. Assandri.
"The cuisine of Kerala is also very different from other parts of the country, especially the seafood. It is very delicious. We do have somewhat similar kind of seafood in France. But here it is more spicy and very cheap", observes Mr. Assandri.
He confesses that he can't resist the beckoning of God's Own Country. "So this will not be my last visit to Kerala. I love this place and so do my customers, says Mr. Assandri.
