A large formation like a swimming pool in the middle of the sea is the striking feature of Kanwatheertha beach at Manjeswaram in Kasaragod district. The beach is near Batapady beach on the southern tip of Karnataka state. The beach is sought after by people looking for a secluded and quaint spot to unwind themselves.
The vast stretch of beach is ideal to take a break, soak in the sun, and have a delightful picnic. People can be seen taking a refreshing dip, and families stroll around happily, enjoying the pleasant climate and lovely sights. The swaying coconut groves along the beach add a lush green cover to the surroundings.
The pond close to the sea is called ‘Kanwatheertha’ and it is a source of pristine water.
The beachside offers a culinary treat as there are numerous shacks doling out a variety of dishes, especially seafood.
Even though we can visit the beach throughout the year, footfall is high during the months from January to March. The weather is pleasant during this time and it is also the time of Theyyam.
