Edneer Mutt - The Divine Aura of Serenity

A venerable institution of learning, spirituality and art, Edneer Mutt, is located on the banks of the Madhuvahini in northern Kerala. The mutt is one of the most revered places in Kasaragod, attracting a good number of devotees from Kerala and neighbouring states. It follows the tradition of Totakacharya, one of the four chief disciples of the spiritual scholar, Sri Sankaracharya. Dakshinamurthi and Gopalakrishna are the presiding deities at Edneer Mutt.

The temple of Daiva Kuntipala Chamundi, regarded as the guardian god of the mutt, is situated nearby. The four Bhoota Sthanas are located at Koorkapadi, Chambrampadi, Kandatteveed and Bhairamoole.

Edneer Mutt gained prominence as a famed centre of literature, education, arts and culture during the period of Srimadiswarananda Bharathi. He founded a higher elementary school and a high school at Edneer. Previous heads of the mutt have elevated the glory of the mutt through their teachings, speeches, endorsement of spiritual knowledge and propagation of education. The calm ambience of the mutt and the premises of the temple offer a soothing experience to the visitors.
