Ranipuram: Where Adventure meets Tranquillity

Switch on the adventurous spirit and head to Ranipuram. The tourist destination in Kasaragod known for its spellbinding beauty doubles up as a picnic spot and a trekker`s paradise. Earlier known as Madathumala, the hilly spot is located at a height of 750 m above sea level.

It is one of the highest points in Kasaragod.  The sprawling forest cover blends seamlessly with the mountains touching the neighbouring state of Karnataka and makes for a scintillating sight. The green cover, the forests and the quaint ambience make Ranipuram a coveted tourist destination. Trek up the way to discover Nature, sit on the meadows and feel the gentle breeze, get your camera ready for a surprise snap of a wandering herd of elephants.

The place is 43 kilometres away from Kanhangad. The well-maintained cottages of the district tourism promotion council offer an opportunity to stay in this beautiful place and take in the beauty at leisure. Local residences also offer accommodation facilities at affordable rates. In case you don`t come in your own vehicle, hop on a jeep and experience the pleasure, marvelling at the beautiful sights all around you. Relax and unwind, enjoying the gentle breeze from the meadows, the sight of shola woods and monsoon forests. Book a jeep ride and explore the beautiful, lesser known places in and around Ranipuram. Pose for great snaps in the meadows full of lemon grass.

A rewarding view of the landscape awaits trekkers after a walk through the forest. Ranipuram also has trekking paths to Talacauvery, something that always excites the trekkers. Kottancheri hills and temples are nearby attractions. If you want to spend some more time here, book a cottage offered by the district tourism promotion council.
