Kerala's architecture is a true masterpiece, renowned for its stunning aesthetics and seamless integration with Nature. The unique and beautiful architectural style of Kerala has been shaped by the state's geography, climate, culture, and history, creating a true work of art.

For those who appreciate the beauty of traditional architecture, the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam is a must-visit destination. Established in 1993, this centre is dedicated to preserving and conserving ancient architectural techniques, ensuring that they are passed down to future generations. Nestled on the banks of the tranquil Pampa river near the iconic Parthasarathy temple in Pathanamthitta district, the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam is an oasis of serenity and beauty.

Vasthuvidya, the ancient Indian science of architecture, is a pure and authentic expression of India's rich socio-cultural heritage. The essence of this beautiful and unique architectural style has been passed down through generations, preserving the country's history and traditions.

Thanks to the Cultural Department of the Government of Kerala, the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam was established with the primary objective of preserving and promoting this incredible science, along with mural paintings. This centre is committed to the renovation and conservation of traditional buildings and mural paintings, ensuring that they continue to inspire and captivate future generations.

The Gurukulam conducts a one-year Post Graduate Diploma programme in Vasthuvidya, a diploma in mural painting, and courses in traditional architecture and Vasthusasthra. The gurukulam has a consultancy wing for designs and constructions based on the principles of Vasthuvidya.

The institute’s art gallery is situated across the road. It has paintings from Indian epics, the Indian freedom struggle and famous people like Mahatma Gandhiji, Mata Amritanandamayi, Jesus, and so on. It also has models of famous ancestral houses in Kerala like Varikkasseri Mana and Ekasala.
