Beef Fry

According to Keralites, Beef Fry is not just a dish, but an emotion. We are utterly passionate about our cuisine and there is no dish that arouses emotion in our hearts like a well cooked Beef Fry. When prepared properly, this dish has a crispy exterior but will melt into your mouth and that is exactly what this recipe will help you create.

Recipe
Marinate a kilogram of cleaned, boneless beef, cut into small cubes with the following:

Thinly sliced coconut - ½ a cup
Shallots cut into two - 1 cup
Coriander powder - 3 tbsp.
Chilli powder - 2 tsp.
Black pepper powder - 2 tsp.
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp.
Garam masala - 2-3 tsp.
Fresh ginger, chopped - 4-5 cm
Garlic cloves, chopped - 10 no.
Salt - to taste

When the beef is well marinated, cook it in a pressure cooker with 200 ml of water until it becomes soft (roughly15-20 minutes).

If there is water left over after the meat is done, cook with the lid open on a high flame till the water has completely evaporated.

Pour three to four tablespoons of coconut oil and sauté two medium-sized onions, slices and a few curry leaves. Then add the cooked beef into it. Fry on a medium flame until the meat turns brown.
