Pantithal

Kerala has a great history of tribal cuisine, with the food having the trademark rustic and spicy touch. Pantithal is a vegetarian dish that is part of Kerala’s tribal cuisine. Here we bring you the recipe of preparing a dish of delicious Pantithal leaves, which are full of flavour, in the traditional style.

Ingredients
Pantithal
Green chilli
Big onion
Cumin powder
Turmeric powder
Coconut oil
Tamarind water
Salt

Method of preparation
Heat some oil in an earthen vessel. Into this put onion and green chillies. Stir a bit. Into this add the cleaned pantithal. Stir well and cook with the vessel covered. After some time remove the lid and add some turmeric powder. Stir a bit. Next add a pinch or two of cumin powder and also some tamarind water. Stir gently. Cover the vessel and cook for some more time.
