This is a video on the preparation of Vellarikka Kichadi - a main side dish in Kerala Sadya. Vellarikka Kichadi is a cucumber in curd side dish which is easy to make and refreshingly cool.
Ingredients
Cucumber (chopped) - 1 cup
Slightly sour curd - half cup
Green chilli chopped - 1
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp + 1 tsp
Scraped coconut - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt
Water
Curry leaves
Red chilli (broken) - 2
Method of preparation
Cook cucumber and green chilli in water till soft. Add ground paste of grated coconut and mustard seeds. Cook till raw smell of paste goes. In another pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, broken red chillies and curry leaves. Pour this seasoning on the cooked cucumber and mix well. Let cool and add beaten curd. Blend.
