Peruvannamuzhi dam is a part of Kakkayam dam which used to provide water for agricultural purposes in Kozhikode district and is the major source of drinking water for Kozhikode city and rural areas. The dam and the reservoir is located inside the Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary.
