Cherai Beach
Cherai Beach, about 26 km from the city, lies to the north of the Vypeen Islands. The drive to the beach along roads flanked by low-lying paddy fields is a delightful experience.
The beautiful beach has calm waters perfect for swimming. The charm of the popular getaway is enhanced by the palm-fringed backwaters on the way there and the frequent appearance of dolphins in the waters near the beach.
The place has grown in popularity as a tourist destination and is now a relatively crowded area with visitors and vendors. There are a number of hotels and restaurants near the beach.
