St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica
The St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, dedicated to ‘Our Lady of Ports’, is one of the important Mariam pilgrim centres in the State. It also serves as the headquarters of the archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly.
Situated near High Court Junction, the large but elegant basilica is an arresting sight.
It was built in the 12th century and renovated twice. In 1974, Pope Paul VI bestowed it with the status of a basilica.
