It is said that during Sree Narayana Guru’s visit to Kumarakom in 1903, he expressed a wish to set up a school there. In accordance with his wishes, the Ezhavas, organized under the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP), started the Sree Kumara Mangalam School near the Sree Kumara Managlam temple. Later, it was upgraded to a high school.
