Karappuzha Dam

Karappuzha dam, one of the biggest earth dams in the country, is located 13 kms northeast of Kalpetta in Wayanad. This picturesque reservoir contains many small islands scattered around the vast area it occupies. The dam is located near the Karappuzha River, a tributary of the Kabini. The surrounding misty hills and the lush green islands are an ideal breeding ground for many aquatic birds.
