Low lands bordering the sea on the west, an undulating stretch of midland and the forest highlands on the east near the Western Ghats sum up the landscape of Kasaragod. Sandy, laterite and forest soil can be seen here. The region is a Nature lover's delight as it is rich in water resources on account of the 12 rivers that run across the district. The longest river here is the Chandragiri.
The district also boasts of reserve forests like Adoor, Eleri, Karudukka, Parappa, Muliyar and many others that are rich in medicinal plants and mangrove forests.
