The mosque at Madayi is one of the oldest mosques built in Kerala. It is situated on the banks of Kuppam River, about 25 kms from Kannur, and is believed to have been constructed by Malik Ibn Dinar when he came to Kerala hundreds of years ago.
The mosque contains a block of white marble that is supposed to have been brought all the way from Mecca. A plaque in the mosque mentions the year of its construction. The structure was later renovated to mimic the Indo-Saracenic style.
