Meenkara - Chulliyar Dams

Palakkad has many irrigation projects to boast as its own, of which Gayathri Project is one. It has two major reservoirs, Meenkara and Chulliyar dams built across Meenkara and Chulliyar rivers respectively. These rivers are tributaries of the Bharathapuzha.

There is a network of canals with a total ayacut of 10,930 hectares of land in Chittur taluk. The place has its own charm surrounded by paddy and coconut fields.
