Mittayitheruvu

Mittayitheruvu, or Sweet Meat Street (S. M. Street), is an important commercial hub in the heart of Kozhikode city. It is located near the city's landmarks like the Town Hall and Commonwealth Trust office. Shops arrayed along the entire stretch of the street offer an assortment of sweets, including the famous Kozhikodan Halwa, and banana chips. At Mittayitheruvu, one can get practically anything from a safety pin to an expensive electronic gadget. 

A walk through this narrow street offers a variety of experiences. The sweet shops display huge blocks of the colourful Kozhikodan Halwa, a special sweet of Kozhikode, and many other mouth-watering delicacies. There are numerous hawkers on the footpath who sell their wares at bargain rates, and also established retail outlets for those who prefer branded goods.
