Both the Regional Science Centre and Planetarium of Kozhikode share the same compound at the Jafferkhan Colony road. The planetarium, which can accommodate 250 people at a time, has a refined Zeiss projector that renders accurate images of the planets, stars and other astronomical objects, accompanied by sound and visual effects.
The planetarium lets visitors explore the mysteries of the universe by providing an informative and lively experience. Daily shows are conducted here at different timings.
At the Regional Science Centre, guests are engaged with interactive scientific experiments, which give insights into physical and molecular science.
There are many other indoor and outdoor exhibits and activities at the centre. The parabolic reflectors can carry even whispered messages from one end of the park to the other. There are gravity-defying objects that float around as well.
Another important section that attracts a lot of footfall is the entomology section named Giants of Nature. Visitors are greeted by giant cockroaches, insects, bugs, ants and other arthropods. The creatures are made with such precision that their movements seem very natural. There is also a popular aquarium here.
The centre aims at instilling and promoting scientific awareness among people through an interactive environment.
