| Besides being a seaside resort and spa, varkala is a religious centre too. Like the white cliffs of Dover, the pink laterite chiffs of Varkala rise right off the sea side along with beaches in between. A dip in the holy waters of this beach and a prayer at the 1000 year old Janardhana temple is said to cleanse one of all the sins. The Sivagiri Mutt established by the Hindu reformer and sage Sri Narayana Guru is also near the town. Mineral water spring are also turning Varkala into a fast developing health resort. |
