The CVN Kalari Sangham, established in 1956, is a centre for popularising and imparting training in Kalaripayattu, considered to be the mother of all forms of martial arts. Kalarippayattu fighters wear no armour and fight with a selection of weapons like poles, spears, daggers, swords and shields and even a long springy whip like sword called Urumi .
