Built like the famous Hoover dam in America, this is the second arch dam of the world and the first in Asia. It spans two hills called Kuravan and Kurathi hills. The Idukki Wildlife sanctuary is nearby. The dam is 550 feet high and 650 feet wide. To its east, there is another dam called Kulamavu dam.
