School for elephants? Well, here is one at Kodanad, on the banks of the river Periyar. In earlier days, elephants were regularly trapped from the jungles in annual drives. Now trapping has been banned. Nevertheless the forest authorities get quite a few baby elephants, some washed down in mountain floods or whose mothers have died.
