The palace built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma was named after the horse motifs timing the lengths of its upper storeys. It is built in the Kerala style architecture and has a raised alcove where the musician Maharaja had conferences with the great musicians of the time. He could also have a clear view of the adjacent Sri Padmanabha temple from this platform. The palace, itself an interesting place to visit now also houses a museum of the rare artistic collections of the Travancore royal family. |
