Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary |
Established in 1938, the Peppara wildlife sanctuary is 53 sq. kms. in area in the western ghats. Again there is a dam with its reservoir surrounded by thick forests, eucalyptus plantations, beautiful mountain streams and rocky slopes ideal for trekking and hiking. Fauna include elephants, sambar deer, leopards, the lion tailed macaque and other tropical animals, birds and reptiles. The site is now being developed further as a tourist attraction. |
