This 125 sq. km wildlife sanctuary was established in 1958. It is about 20 kms east of Thrissur and is in the catchment area of the Peechi and Vazhani dams. Tourists can go boating in the dam reservoir lake or watch the wildlife and flowers. There are more than 50 kinds of orchids in the area. The wildlife includes leopards, tigers, foxes, elk, barking deer, spotted deer, bison and elephants.
