The hill station of Kerala
Nestled in the shadows of the Western Ghats, Marayoor has, for over ten centuries preserved in its' soul a stone clad secret. The jungles and hillsides of Marayoor are dotted with remnants of Dolmenoid cists called muniyaras (burial chambers) belonging to the Megalithic age. As one stands beside the Muniyaras, one can't help but be humbled in the presence of a creation that has withstood the test of time for over 1000 years. It has seen men come and go and stood resolute boldly facing the vagaries of the weather. Be it morning, afternoon, evening or night the Muniyaras have about them an aura of tranquility and spiritual peace. After all, this is where the spirits of the past sleep.
